1. Disclaimers and points to note
- The Service is provided and operated independently by WILLs Inc. WILLs Inc. is responsible for providing and operating the Service; Sumitomo Corporation bears no responsibility for it.
- The Service is provided as a proof of concept for the period from September 30 to December 31, 2026. During or after that period, the Service may be changed, suspended or discontinued without notice.
- The Service generates answers to users’ questions automatically by AI, based on the Integrated Report and other public information referenced by the Service. It does not constitute new disclosure of corporate information, forward-looking statements, solicitation of investment or investment advice by Sumitomo Corporation.
- Answers are for reference only, and depending on the question the Service may be unable to answer. No warranty whatsoever is given as to their accuracy, completeness or usefulness, or as to the Service in general.
- Answers generated by AI may contain errors. When making investment decisions, please refer to the latest statutory disclosures, timely disclosures and other official published information.
- In using the Service, users must not enter personal information of themselves or of third parties (names, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses or other personal information, personal-related information, and the like), or undisclosed corporate information, third-party confidential information or other highly confidential information.
- WILLs Inc. and Sumitomo Corporation bear no liability whatsoever for any damage arising from use of the Service, including software or hardware failures, communication problems, disputes between a user and a third party, or any other incident.
- WILLs Inc. and Sumitomo Corporation bear no liability whatsoever even where a user suffers damage as a result of using, or being unable to use, the Service.
2. How data is handled
2-1. What is stored in your browser
The Service stores a random identifier and the display state of the screen (whether the question panel is open) in your browser.
- The identifier is randomly generated, and no individual can be identified from the identifier alone. We do not use it to identify individual users by matching it against names, email addresses or other information that directly identifies a person.
- It is stored within your browser (we use the browser’s local storage, not cookies).
- Its purpose is to analyse the browsing and questions of the same visitor together.
- It is retained for as long as it remains in your browser; no expiry is set. You can delete it yourself.
- It is never sent anywhere other than the servers of this Service. It is not provided to advertising or web analytics providers.
How to delete it: from your browser settings, clear the site data (cookies and site data) for this site.
After deletion a new identifier is issued, and it is no longer linked to your earlier browsing or questions.
2-2. Your questions and what is recorded on the server
The following is recorded on the servers of this Service.
- The text of your questions, the pages you viewed, time spent, the visitor type you selected, and the answers and their source pages.
- Your rating of an answer (helpful / not helpful) and any comment you enter with it.
- Your survey responses and any free-text comments or requests.
These are handled as follows.
- Users must not enter personal information; should any be entered, telephone numbers and email addresses contained in the text of a question are masked before they are stored and before they are sent to the AI.
- Names are masked only in set expressions such as “My name is ...”; not every form of expression can be detected.
- Telephone numbers and email addresses in comment and free-text fields are likewise masked. However, not every form of personal information can be detected.
- Retention: deleted three months after the end of this proof of concept.
- Who can access it: limited to WILLs Inc., its subcontractors, and the personnel in charge at Sumitomo Corporation. It is not provided to third parties. However, we may have our subcontractors handle the data to the extent necessary to operate the Service and generate AI answers.
- Purpose of use: limited to analysis in this proof of concept and to consideration of improvements to the Integrated Report.
The question history shown on screen is held in temporary storage until you close the browser tab, and is erased when the tab is closed.
2-3. Transmission for generating answers
To generate an answer to your question, the text of your question — masked as described in 2-2 above — and the relevant part of the Integrated Report are sent to an AI service provided by Google LLC, and are processed under the terms set by Google LLC. All communication is protected by HTTPS.
- Data storage: within Japan (Tokyo)
- Application processing: Singapore
- Answer generation by AI: an AI service of Google LLC (processed on that company’s global infrastructure)
